Memoir of Joseph Vogel (b.Hersz Bursztajn)
ADJCP subscriber Fay Bussgang has shared her father’s memoir of attending Yeshiva in Zychlln around 1903. Fay’s father, Joe Vogel (b.Hersz Bursztajn) studied in the Zychlin yeshiva under his mother’s cousin, Chaim Mendel Helmer. The article captures the life of a young yeshiva boy in our small town and the forces of change that pulled young men away from a life of study toward work and Western culture.
